After all this time since I first knew about Heather I have continued to be concerned though I have been silent for awhile but not without concern for Heather and her family.
I was informed by someone here in Ely that some of my suggestions such as talking with the local students was not in the students best interest, never mind I suppose, Heather's best interest.
It was also suggested that I was hindering the police investigation because I was searching and seeking for different ways to get the word out about Heather in my support to locate her and in assisting her family.
I do not feel there is anything wrong or hindering in suggesting and pursuing avenues that might lead to Heather's known whereabouts whether she wants to be found or not. She might very well be in a situation where she in fact wants to be found and if not...for the family to at least know that she is ok would indeed bring a great relief to family and anyone volunteering their time and efforts for Heather's cause.
There has been way too much negativity focused on the family situation being the cause of Heather not being at home where she belongs. Any parent out there having a teenager that are so perfect as a parent and without family issues from time to time in raising children... well then go ahead and cast your stones! Remembering too that sometimes your stones can be in the form of judgmental accusations.
It really doesn’t matter at this point why Heather left if indeed she left of her own accord. What matters is that she be found in a timely manner that is now long over due. There is still hope and therefore cause to not give up in pursuing her location. I am sure her family would appreciate any suggestions whether they come to fruition or not. I would say...Stop Throwing Stones and instead, Leave No Stone Unturned (figuratively written) In Finding Her! Move Heaven and Earth in finding her and other missing children as well.
I have a suggestion as follow. Many commercial truck drivers come through Ely. Most of them are hard working good men with families of their own. Has anyone ever gone out to the truck parking area on Great Basin Blvd., and gave willing truck drivers a stack of notices with Heather’s picture and information on them to pass out along the way of their route and to leave at each truck stop they are in? If these truck drivers that come through here would give these notices to other truck drivers going in other directions then imagine the impact that can effect in getting her picture out there. Or if anyone is traveling away from Ely to take a stack of personal notices of Heather with her picture and leave them every place you can. I know of one family that made a trip to Las Vegas and left personal notices of Heather in businesses there. That was a good beginning and I also think that if others will periodically approach commercial truck drivers to pass out notices as they stop along the way of their route it just might pay off in locating her. You can do this from your own location from anywhere in the United States including Canada. Lets not give up because while there is life there is hope and we must continue to hope and believe she is somewhere wanting to be found.
